After a lots of consideration, I have finally made up my mind to jailbreak my iPhone 3G as I am curious to see what Cydia have to offer… ;-)
Detailed Step by Step JailBreaking Instruction
I found a very detailed step by step instruction to help me to start the jailbreaking process. This is extremely useful if you like to jailbreak your iPhone 3G.
Check it out at: JailBreaking Instruction at iPhone School
In short, you just need to update your iPhone 3G to the latest firmware 2.2.1, download the QuickPwn installer and you are ready to go.
The process is very straight forward and easily guided. Just a precaution, you need to follow the instruction to press the home and power buttons because there is a time limits, otherwise, you will need to restart the jailbreaking process all over.
Beware If You have Lots of 3rd Party Apps on Your iPhone
I made quite a stupid mistake that wasted me to spend almost 5 hours to restore my iPhone settings. I like to download lots of 3rd party apps from the AppStore just to try and test. I did not remove all the app before the downloading the jailbreaking code into my iPhone. It ended up that I could not reboot my iPhone after jailbreaking. The iPhone hanged with reboot screen like the photo on the left.
Luckily, I found a solutions on iPhonedownlow.com.
The reason of iPhone reboot Hanged : I have too many 3rd Party Apps on my iPhone.
Ok well, I followed the instruction to restore my iPhone to the factory settings all over and retore my Backup into the iPhone again.
This is a painful process, it took me nearly 5 hours… damn…!!!
Hopefully, just to share this stupid lesson with you such that you do not make this mistake again. Make sure you remove all your 3rd party Apps from your iPhone first before starting the jailbreaking process.
My JailBreaking Works and I have Cydia on my iPhone 3G
I made sure I removed all my Apps from iPhone in my 2nd jailbreaking trial. I also did a backup to sync all my contact as well before jailbreaking.
The process is smooth, I see the downloading screen, reboot, and it works… in less than 15 minutes.
Finally, I have the Cydia store on my iPhone now. It is time to start searching for some incredible apps…
