Bobby Chen 陳升 Concert at St James Power Station, Singapore

It was a Hari Raya long holiday weekend, I attended a mini concert by Bobby Chen 陳升 at St James Power Station. The venue is a nice small pub and it offers a great chance to get up close with the singer.

Plus, the great thing I like most, they did not restrict photography nor videography… therefore, I can’t help but to snap lots of photos and videos at the concert.

Bobby Chen 陳升 just released a new album < 是的，我在台北> recently. There were new and old albums on sales at the site and you can also get a his autograph at the end of the concert. I could not help to miss that and I bought one album… ;-)

Singapore Youth Olympic Games

In few hour times, the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will kick start in Singapore.

I went to capture some shots at the last leg of YOG torch relay at Marina Bay area. I saw the torch crossing the bay water and eventually passing on to light up at a Cauldron for a night of celebration at the Marina Bay area.

Fireworks @ Singapore NDP 2010

Blue Fireworks @ Singapore Marina Bay

9 Aug 2010 is the 45th national day of Singapore. I heard that the fireworks would be spectacular this year because it would be lighted up simultaneously from both Marina waterfront and some skyscrapers in the city.

I brought my camera and tripod, headed down to the Marina waterfront to try my luck to take the photos of the fireworks. Here are some samples of the Fireworks photo that I took.

Happy Tiger Year 2010 虎年行大運

Very soon, we will be celebrating Chinese New Year in 7 days time. It is also very special this year because the First Day of Chinese New Year falls on the Valentine’s Day (Feb 14) as well.

I went to Chinatown few days ago just to experience the atmosphere of Chinese New Year preparation. Chinatown in Singapore is the best place to experience the atmosphere as the place is decorated with lots of lanterns and also lots of stalls are selling CNY related products.

Spring Flowers & Auspicious Food are Must Have

Chinese New Year also implies the arrival of spring. Therefore, many people like to decorate the house with some spring flowers. As I walked pass one of the temple at Chinatown, it places many pots of pink and red “Fake” spring flowers right outside the temple.

Even though it is fake, I still can’t help but to snap a few photos and I still like it as it brings out the feeling of Chinese New Year.

Chinese also have lots of superstitious practices during chinese new year. One of them is to eat some auspicious food. I saw that at Chinatown too. They are actually sugar coated vegetables and fruits… In case if we do not know what those auspicious food means, the stall owner makes it simple for us. They write the name of auspicious food on a small red cardboard and you can pick whichever you like.

Singapore Fireworks Celebration & Festival 2008

Singapore had its Fireworks Celebration & Festival 2008 at Marina Bay floating platform on the Friday and Saturday nights. It was a spectacular and amazing night to witness and experience the attractive fireworks right at the heart of the city.

I was there to witness this marvellous event on both days. I really enjoyed it though it was drizzling on both nights. This was the best fireworks viewing experience that I had.

I was there to see 2 or 3 years ago but I had quite an awful experience before. it was so crowded and I could not really enjoy the night. Worse still, the smoke and burning smell left behind by the fireworks really made me breathless.

Due to this bad experience I had, I decided to take a risk and go over to the other side of the Marina to view the fireworks this time. The location I went is right opposite the floating platform, on the other band of the marina.

Wow, I like the place very much. Firstly, there is a big field and therefore it was not that crowded. It is much further from the fireworks lcoation and therefore the smoke and burning smell did not affect me on both nights ;-)

Plus, it is good location for me to take good photo shots as it can capture a wide area of the sky. Unfortunately, I do not have a wide angle lens, otherwise, I can capture the fireworks and the whole city skyline together.

I let my camera continuously snapping pictures for 10-15 minutes. I even filled up my 1G memory on the 2nd nights. I had close to 350 photos. Amazing and I like it very much as this is the first time I managed to take the fireworks photos myself ;-)

Singapore First Ever Night Festival – Part 2 – Electric Canvas

Light Installation by Electric Canvas at Singapore Night Festival

Singapore had its first ever night festival 2 weeks ago. The festival spaned across 2 weekends. First weekend was the Dancing Sky performance by Studio Festi and second weekend was a light intallation by Electric Canvas.

Unfortunately, I did not manage to visit the 2nd weekend as I went back to my hometown, Melaka. My sister and her friend went for the 2nd weekend.

They showed me the photos, wow, I wish I would have seen that live with my own eyes. The light installation is spectacular as well. I am impressed that they can tansformed the building of national museum into different skins and colors using lighting technology.

“Wow…” That’s what I feel when I first saw the photos. I have requested for some photos with the different skins and feel from them. I uploaded them to my Picasa album, here’s the photos to share with you ;-)

Singapore First Ever Night Festival

Pianist & Dancer in Sky at Singapore Night Festival

Singapore held its first ever night festival last 2 weeks. There are a series of performance lined up in the city near the national museum for 2 weekends. I went to watch the Dancing Sky performance by Studio Festi from Italy.

I would say I am deeply impressed and enjoyed the whole performance. It was an extraordinary aerial performance. The dancers were hanged in the mid-air and they dance with the music. There is also a flying piano and a flying ship as well.
